Active packaging boosts the shelf life, releasing compounds to enrich the packaging, or to eliminate various components immediately. various manufacturers use different elements depending on the shipment of the products, but for the most part there’s light-filtering, ethylene absorption, oxygen absorption, moisture control, and an antibacterial coating, and a lot more.

There’s also intelligent packaging, which communicates with the world, rather than just the packaging. It offers diagnostics and indicators, can fulfill automation, customer engagement, and marketing purposes.
